I created this song to teach students in grade five about the basic fundamentals of music they were required to learn, while also incorporating the components of the ancient civilization in Egypt. The students used this as a guide for their own songs, and then they wrote one themselves about their chosen civilization.

Well Egypt has a history long long ago and the man at the top they called him Pharaoh
He lived like a king all day long and spoke with the gods so nothing would go wrong
had dynasties, kingdoms old and new
recorded in hieroglyphics for me and you
temples, tombs and pyramids were made of stone to house the spirits of the gods so they wouldn't be alone

CHORUS: Listen up listen up y'all we gotta learn about Egyptian civilization
gotta write, gotta read, gotta speak, gotta step up our communication
scribes, peasants, architects, teachers are all part of this population
if you haven't guessed y'all it takes place in the time of the Pharaoh
